GENERAL QUESTIONS

We offer dance classes for children as young as 2 years old, popular with our Taps & Twirls class (ages2-4). Our studio specializes in introducing little ones to the fundamentals they will need to succeed in beginning classes once they reach age 5.

Yes! We believe finding the right studio fit is important. We invite all new dancers from Brea, Fullerton, La Habra, and surrounding areas to book their first free trial class to experience our classes first hand, meet our instructors, and see our facility.

Studio J Dance Collective offers a comprehensive curriculum including Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical, and Contemporary. We also offer Flexibilty/Conditioning classes for dancers. We have an extensive Adult dance class program with adult classes in Ballet, Jazz Conditioning, Tap and Latin Ballroom.
Whether you are looking for recreational activity or Competitive dance training, we have a class for every interest. -
Proper attire helps instructors see alignment and keeps dancers safe. We only have a specific dress code for Beg/Int/Adv Ballet classes which is Black leotard, pink tights and ballet shoes. For all other classes, dancer’s are invited to wear what they can move comfortably in, preferably athletic or dance attire. Proper shoes are recommended for all dance classes. Ballet shoes for Ballet, Jazz shoes or half-soles for Jazz and Tap shoes for Tap. Ask at our front desk for recommendations on where to buy dancewear locally and receive a discount as part of our studio.

We have a closed-classroom policy to keep students focused, BUT we do have viewing windows available from the parent lounge area so you can watch class if you like. This ensures your child gets the best possible instruction without distraction.

We have an online account system for your convenience available from the “PARENT PORTAL” button on our website or from our portal app. To register for classes or a free trial, you just need to create your own log-in first. Once logged in, you can register for a trial, view classes, statements, shop our boutique and more!

COMPETITION TEAM

Entry into our Competitive Team is by audition or through placement for current Studio J Dancers. We offer groups for dancers ages 4 to 18, with opportunities for every skill level to shine and grow.
Auditions are typically held in July, where we look for passion, potential, and dedication. Details about auditions will be posted on our website and on our Instagram in June.

Yes, our competition team competes at 4-5 Regional competitions throughout Southern California between April through June. We also attend a top-rated National Competition in July. In addition to regular season competitions, we offer opportunities for our dancers to attend local dance conventions to learn from top industry choreographers.

Our competitive dancers train extensively in technique (Ballet, Jazz, and/or Tap) alongside their choreography numbers rehearsals. Time commitment varies by age, team placement, and the number of performing numbers a dancer is participating in. Average time ranges from 5 hours per week and up. In addition, dancers can expect about 4-5 Regional Competitions per season between April-June and a Nationals in July.

STUDIO QUESTIONS

We are conveniently located in North Brea, CA at 1150 W Central Ave, Suite C. Our studio is in a quiet, and well lit business park on the corner of Central Ave and Puente with ample parking.

Yes! Since we are located in a large business park, we have ample parking available directly in front of our studio, making drop-offs and pick-ups easy and safe for parents.

Not sure what’s right for you? Try your first class FREE! Classes are available as either drop-in rate or discounted rate when paid monthly. Regular drop-in single classes are $25/class. Our High School Team partners receive special discounted drop-in rates as low as $15/class.
Save by registering for your class as a monthly series: 1 class per week (i.e. 4-5 classes/mo) is only $90/month. Adding additional classes or family members to a monthly series receives additional discounts! Know which classes you want to take? Contact us for details. -
Yes! Visit our Studio Shop where you can buy chilled water or sparkling water, a variety of snacks, and merch right on site. Parents also have a Coffee/Tea Station where you can enjoy complimentary hot coffee or tea while waiting for your dancer.

Whatever you’re comfortable with! Parents are welcome to drop their registered child off to class and pick up when they are finished from the front entrance (If its your first time in or you’re coming in for a trial, we recommend parents to come into the studio and check in to the office). If you like, you may also wait inside in the Lounge area and enjoy coffee or tea while you wait.
